Meclofenamic acid is a drug used for joint, muscular pain, arthritis and dysmenorrhea. Meclofenamic acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent with antipyretic and antigranulation activities. It also inhibits prostaglandin biosynthesis. It is a member of the anthranilic acid analogues class of NSAID drugs and was approved by the FDA in 1980. Like other members of the class, it is a COX inhibitor and prevents formation of prostaglandins.
